In 2007, the Groundwater Research Group at Queen's University Belfast was granted 1.8 M Euro by the Griffith Geoscience Award Programme.

The funding for the Award was established in Ireland as part of the National Geoscience Programme 2007-2013 under the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation of the National Development Plan.

The Groundwater Research Group is part of the Environmental Engineering Research Cluster at the School of Planning, Architecture & Civil Engineering.
